A player should be more aggressive in the latter rounds of betting if he is certain of winning a high or low hand. If a player feels he’s the only one pursuing a high hand then he should raise. The other players will have no choice but to match the bet hoping to win with the low hands.

Just as in a standard game of seven card stud, it would be crucial for a player to study his opponents’ cards in a game of hi-low. Often a player can interpret another player might or might not be pursuing either a high or low, nevertheless it is not a guarantee. Look at the highest card that is showing when reviewing the window cards. Could it be beat as a low?

Player 1: Lays a wager. He’s confident of his pair of Kings.
Player 2: Sees the bet. He sees potential of a low hand since he has a 3, 5, 6.
Player 3: Sees the bet. He has three high cards in a sequence, which is a good start.


Player 4: Sees the bet. With and A, 3, 6, he sees potential for a low hand.
Player 5: Sees the bet. He has a pair and has opted to see if it builds up.
Player 6: Quits because he stands no chance at making either a low or high hand.
Player 7: Quits. He sees no potential.

Round two:-

Player 1: Checks He is confident of his pair of kings but he chooses to wait and watch what player 2 and player 3 will do with two suited cards.
Player 2: Lays a wager. He has a chance at building a low hand and a poker flush with three spades.
Player 3: Matches the bet. His big hand is enhanced thanks to the pair of Queens and a three flush.
Player 4: Matches the bet. He stands to make a good low hand although the pair of 3s obscures matters.
Player 5: Quits.
Player 1: Sees the wager.
